Dear Visitors, Welcome to the web site of the Lakes Community Land Trust, a non profit organization serving Dickinson County, Iowa. Please take the time to explore the information you will find in these pages. We think were on to something BIG - hope you do too. LCLT was organized and incorporated as a non profit corporation in July of 2006. We are governed by a local board of directors elected annually by our membership. Membership is open to any adult full time resident of Dickinson county. We are organized around the "Community Land Trust Model", which is in use by over 200 communities across the country. Please visit our Board and staff and membership pages, to see which of your neighbors and friends are already part of this growing movement. The concept behind Community Land Trusts (CLT's) is simple yet compelling. The land we inhabit here in Dickinson County whether privately or publicly owned, is a community asset in which we all have a legitimate interest. The land feeds us, supports our homes and industry, and nurtures our spirits. The role of the CLT is to obtain and hold land in perpetuity, and put it to uses for the legitimate needs of the people of the community- particularly those of modest income.
